Q&A Home > C > Convert I am a Roman Catholic inquiring into the Coptic Orthodox Church. I might convert to the Church. I understand that there are plenty of differences between the two, even though on the surface they might seem the same because they both have priests, 7 same sacraments, and venerating images of Mary and the saints.
Is it true that Pope Francis and Pope Tawardos signed an agreement that converts from either Church to another do not have to be baptized?
If I do decide to join your Church, what steps do I have to take as a Catechumen to be confirmed in the Church? In reference to the Common Declaration signed by H.H. Pope Tawadros and H.H. Pope Francis, there is no agreement regarding baptism that would be recognized by both churches.
To join the Coptic Orthodox Church, you should first select a Father Confessor (priest from the Church), who will be your guide and spiritual advisor. He will disciple you and prescribe a canon specific to you in adherence to the teachings, doctrine, and rituals of the Church as delivered to us by the Church Fathers. He will also help you to live a life of repentance, serve the Lord, and grow in virtue.
